Guideline on Domain Name Registration of the Macao Special Administrative Region

Applicants must first create a registration account on the MONIC website, this account, upon the activation, can be used for domain name application. This setup step serves for the purpose that users can better manage their domain names and applications, and all the existing domain name accounts and passwords are still valid (please refer to “Domain Name Renewal” for more details.)

Creation of Registration Account

  1. From the MONIC website, click on the tab “Signup”, read the signup regulation carefully and then click “Agree” to continue.
    Click Signup and then Agree
  2. Fill the applicant information in the related fields (“*” are required fields) and click “Signup” after finish.
  3. Meanwhile, an email notification with subject “Please confirm your domain name registration account” will be sent to the email address you provided.
  4. Check your mailbox and click the link on the email notification to activate your account. Meanwhile, another email notification with subject “Your domain name registration account has been created successfully” will be sent to you, which indicates your registration account has been created successful and can be used for domain name application.

Domain Name Registration

  1. From the MONIC website, click on the tab “Login”, enter your username and password and then click the “Login” button to continue (If you do not have a registration account, please refer to Creation of Registration Account for more details.)
  2. Select “Register Domain” from the drop down menu “Domain Management”.
  3. Fill the domain name information in the related fields (“*” are required fields), the contact information can be chosen from the associated drop down menu. If there is no contact created before, you can choose “New Contact” from the drop down menu (as below) to create a new contact.
  4. Next, you can input the DNS, if any, by clicking the button “Add DNS”. The required documents of domain name application can be uploaded through “Attachment” (Some original documents such as Declaration of Agreement can be uploaded for preliminary review before the originals are submitted). With the information and the challenging code filled, click “Submit” to continue.
  5. Read the “Regulation on Domain Name Registration of MSAR” carefully and click the “Agree” button to complete the online registration procedures.
  6. Next, an email notification with subject “Your domain name application has been received” will be sent to the email address you provided to remind you for submitting the required documents, Declaration of Agreement and the payment cheque. We will proceed with the application only when all required documents and payment cheque are received.
  7. After all necessary procedures have been completed, an email notification with subject “Your domain name registration has been approved” will be sent to the email address you provided.

Domain Name Renewal

  1. From the MONIC website, click on the tab “Login”, enter your username and password and then click the “Login” button to continue (If the existing domain name you owned was registered before 15th November 2009, your domain name will be the username. E.g. If your domain name is ABC.COM.MO, the username will be ABC.COM.MO, and the password will be the same as the original one.)
  2. Select “My Domains” from the drop down menu “Domain Management”.
  3. Select the domain name to be renewed and click on the “Renew” button.
  4. Select the number of year to be renewed, upload the required documents for domain name renewal (please refer to "Required documentary of domain name registration"). Enter the challenging code and click on the “Submit” button to complete the online renewal procedures.
  5. Next, an email notification with subject “Please submit the required documentary for your domain name renewal application” will be sent to your email to remind you for submitting the required documents and the payment cheque for the renewal.
  6. After all necessary procedures have been completed, an email notification with subject “Your domain name renewal application has been completed” will be sent to the email address you provided.

Password Reset for Domain Name Registration Account

  1. From the MONIC website, click on the tab “Login” and then click on the link “Forget Password”;
  2. Fill in your “Profile Name” and the “Challenging Code” and click on the “Submit” button to the password reset page. Meanwhile, an email notification with subject “Application on Password Reset” will be sent to your email.
  3. Check your mailbox, copy the “Password Reset Key” stated in the email and paste it on password reset page as shown below, and then click on the “Submit” button. Meanwhile, another email notification with subject “Password for your domain name registration account (for password update only)” will be sent to your email.
  4. Check your mailbox again, you can now use the “Password Reset Code” stated in the email to logon the system. Note: “Password Reset Code” will be valid only for ONCE. Once you successfully logon the system, you are required to setup a new password and the password reset code will no longer valid.
  5. After you logon the system, you are required to setup a new password, you can simply enter the new password into the fields and click on the “Submit” button. Meanwhile, an email notification with subject “Password reset is completed” will be sent to your email.
